In the last weekend of November, AJP brought its European athletes a chance to start their climbs in the 2023-2024 rankings. This Saturday, November 25th, the AJP Tour Valencia International Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2023 landed at the Pabellón Municipal Benicalap, setting five fight areas in the venue and welcoming athletes of all ages, nationalities, and belt divisions.

Across six hours of competition, warriors put their training and skills to the test as they fought tooth and nail to conquer the gold in the Spanish city. Headlining the tournament with stellar performances, the Professional Black Belt category inspired the attending crowd with their prowess and technique, displaying a level of Jiu-Jitsu that elevated the event to new heights.

One of the tournament’s highlights was the Polish black belt Pawel Kozlowski, who conquered the double gold in the AJP mats. Representing Gremlin Jiu-Jitsu, Kozlowski first fought in the gi, challenging Mexico’s Josue Wong, from Checkmat, in a balanced duel that took up the entirety of the regulated time. When the clock ran out, the scoreboard sat at 2-0 and gave Kozlowski his first title of the day. He later returned to the battlefield, this time without the gi, and once again found success. This time, his opponent was the Venezuelan Paul Salazar, a Predador representative who had previously defeated Josue in the semis. In the final round, both athletes gave their all during the 5 minutes of the match, but the Polish champion once again showed his know-how, scoring 4-1 to take another gold medal and end his campaign in Valencia on a high note.

Other highlights were the local Alejandro Carreras (Focus Jiu-Jitsu), who outscored two opponents to become the 69kg division champion; and the Belarusian Yury Pashkovich, who got to the top of the 94kg division podium by scoring 1-0 against the Brazilian Wanderson Costa.
